Peerplays 2.0 Update

Peerplays 2.0 blog post featured image

Our team is dedicated to providing our users with efficient, effective, and up-to-date blockchain systems. To achieve this, we work tirelessly to address any issues or bugs that arise, as well as ensure compatibility with other systems. In this blog post, we will be discussing the latest updates related to Peerplays legacy code, our Peerplays 2.0 Research and Development progress, and NEX updates.

Peerplays Legacy Codebase

Over the past few weeks, our development team has been hard at work fixing various incompatibility issues that have been encountered following the alpha mainnet release. These issues included problems with the Faucet, Hive withdrawal, and few issues in the P2P layer. However, the team has now completed the verification of the Faucet, addressing the breaking changes that caused incompatibilities. We have also addressed the Hive withdrawal issue and a peer-to-peer connection pool-related bug. These fixes will help us move towards the upcoming mainnet release and ensure that the system is compatible, efficient, and effective.

In addition to these bug fixes, our team has also been testing the Peerplays JS library, which is working without the need for changes. We have made significant progress and we are now planning to release Peerplays 1.5.22 alpha later this week. The team is also working on running automation tests against the blockchain, which will help ensure that the system is working correctly.

Peerplays 2.0 Research & Development

We have also been making significant progress with our Peerplays 2.0 research and development. Specifically, we have been verifying the Frontier Project’s Pallets and various libraries of Pallets. Additionally, we have been verifying the BABE consensus algorithm, and we can now launch a local test chain with this consensus algorithm and all the Pallets from the Frontier Project. The screenshot below shows how we are able to launch a local chain, and the underlined items in green show the consensus algorithm.

Peerplays 2.0 testing

One important area we have been focusing on is Ethereum’s JSON API compatibility, which we have been testing to ensure that all popular tools like Metamask work seamlessly. We have also been verifying popular Solidity smart contracts against Frontier Project’s EVM. It’s important to note that we are still in the experimental phase, but we are making steady progress in these areas.

NEX

There have been some minor updates to NEX‘s screens, with the current product version v0.7.1 having a couple of issues that are being addressed. Some of these issues include the GPOS tab on the Voting page, the sent tab on the Wallet page, unexpected changes in the order book sorting, and some UX improvements on mobile devices. While these may seem like small fixes, they are crucial to ensuring that the NEX platform is user-friendly and efficient.

Summing it up

Overall, our development team has been making significant progress in ensuring that our systems are compatible, efficient, and effective. While there are still challenges ahead, we are confident in our ability to overcome them. Our Peerplays 2.0 research is looking very promising and exciting. We look forward to updating you on our progress.
